A key part of my investing strategy is to maintain a shortlist of high quality shares – ideally the 50-100 highest quality shares in the UK stockmarket – and only invest in these. Those shares not in my portfolio go into my watchlist. I have discussed my watchlist previously here.
I discuss in more detail how I identify quality for assessing which shares go into the watchlist here.
As a visual memory aid of my assessments I also score the shares in my watchlist according to various criteria and update this periodically (typically before I need to buy a new share). How this scoring works is discussed here.
